Pererenan, Canggu, Bali’s original high-performance playground, offers a combination of very consistent lefts and rights that are constantly followed by hipsters. Pererenan Rivermouth: The Rivermouth’s right hander features tubes, ramps, and cuttie portions. Because of the wave’s fantastic form and tempo, as well as the simple entry from the beach via a defined channel, you’ll often find an outrageously diverse range of surfing talents in this lineup, ranging from World Tour pros to the person getting to his feet for the first time (even though it is reef bottom).
Pererenan River-mouth is one of the better waves in Canggu, with a barreling right-hander with performance walls. High tide provides the best form because the water comes in over the volcanic rock shelf, whereas low tide is too shallow and provides a lower quality wave.
In ideal conditions, the right-hander will break at 1ft and hold up to 1.5over head or a little bigger, but any bigger will break wide of the reef and close off. As the swell hits the reef, it stands up on a portion of rock that is somewhat wider than the take-off zone, but it rarely breaks, and the peak returns to the main reef.
Pererenan Waves and Best Conditions
Pererenan River-mouth is offshore in easterly winds through to the north but favors light winds early in the mornings when the dry season trade winds cross onshore from the south and the rainy season trade winds cross onshore from the north. It favors mid to high tide to cover the reef and will break from shoulder height to 1.5 times overhead.
